RALEIGH (April 14, 2014) – North Carolina advocates will join together on Tax Day to bring awareness to the tax plan passed by the General Assembly last year, which amounted to a tax shift onto working families.
The press briefing will highlight elements of the plan, which increased taxes for low- and middle-income families on average while decreasing taxes for wealthy taxpayers and corporations.
Speakers include Melea Rose-Waters from MomsRising NC, economist David Ribar with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Mary Klenz with the League of Women Voters, and Tazra Mitchell with the Budget & Tax Center, a project of the NC Justice Center.
The event will be held on Tuesday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the legislative building at 16 W. Jones Street in downtown Raleigh.
