"Poverty Day" data reveals essential information on NC health insurance rates
RALEIGH (Sep. 9, 2009) -- Information released tomorrow will provide a critical window into health care in North Carolina.
On "Poverty Day," Sep. 10, the U.S. Census Bureau will release annual population and community data that contains vital information about health coverage across the United States. North Carolina-specific data will be available at 10 a.m. eastern time.
Experts from the NC Justice Center are available for comment on and to assist with interpreting the data. The NC Health Access Coalition will begin analyzing the numbers as soon as they are released. Members of the media are encouraged to contact Justice Center and HAC staff for questions on or off the record.
Unlike previous years, the census bureau will release the data in two batches during 2009. Tomorrow, Sep. 10, will cover the Current Population Survey (CPS) data; the American Community Survey (ACS) data will be released Sep. 22.
