Kate Woomer-Deters joined the Justice Center in 2007. At the Justice Center, she litigates employment, consumer, and housing cases on behalf of low-income immigrants in eastern North Carolina. Previously, she was an attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina - Farmworker Unit, where she litigated wage and hour, Agricultural Worker Protection Act, human trafficking cases, and practiced immigration law. Kate is a 2005 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. During law school, she represented immigrant workers with wage claims in Texas, filed claims for asylum-seekers in Minnesota, and helped to found the Workers' Rights Clinic at the University of Minnesota Law School.
