STATEMENT: Justice Center praises Executive Order in support of pregnant state employees as commonsense, pro-family policy

RALEIGH (December 6, 2018) – No woman should have to choose between her job and the health of her child. And thanks to Governor Cooper’s Executive Order, thousands of pregnant state employees won’t have to make that choice.

Under the new policy, more pregnant employees will be able to avoid putting the health of themselves of their child at risk while still earning needed income as they prepare for the birth of a child. This is a commonsense, pro-family policy that the General Assembly needs to extend to all private sector employees as well.
