Rockingham Health Advocacy Project Community Engagement Event
On August 7, 2025, our Health Advocacy team hosted a community conversation in Rockingham County focused on elevating local voices to improve health care access in the region.
Community members shared their personal experiences with health care barriers—including high costs, medical debt, and challenges accessing mental health care. We also discussed the negative impacts of the Big, Bad Bill and the urgent need to take action locally.
“The event went extraordinarily well, information was concise and clear, the attendees were educated on many of the issues that are important for them, and they left equipped with all what they need to help themselves and their families”, said Mary D. Martin, NAACP, Education Coordinator & Community Leader.
We are so grateful to the health advocates who joined us in Rockingham! If you’d like more information about how to get involved in our health advocacy work, please contact Heysoll or Rebecca.
