Jason Pikler is Senior Attorney and Deputy Director of the NC Justice Center’s Housing, Consumer, Energy project. Jason works on impact litigation and legislative advocacy to address predatory business practices that target low-income North Carolinians and their communities. Jason also represents low-wealth homeowners who are at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure or real-estate scams and helps lead the Home Defense Project, a coalition of legal services advocates working on home preservation issues.

Highlights of Jason’s work include serving as co-lead counsel in a class action against Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC to enforce North Carolina’s statutes that protect consumers against the debt-collection practices of debt buyers, which resulted in a $4 million settlement in 2018 that benefited more than 20,000 North Carolinians.

Prior to joining the NC Justice Center, Jason obtained complex litigation experience at private law firms in San Francisco, which included representing plaintiffs in consumer class actions. Jason received his BA from Haverford College, an MA in English literature from the University of Virginia, and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
