Making a Gift of Stock

Transferring securities, including stocks or bonds, is an easy way for you to make a life-transforming gift.
When you donate appreciated securities, you can avoid paying capital gain tax that would otherwise be due if you sold these assets.

To help ensure that your contribution is properly received, identified, and acknowledged, please follow the steps below.

Before making your stock gift

Before initiating your donation, please contact our Financial Advisor team and/or the North Carolina Justice Center directly (contact information below). Providing advance notice allows us to coordinate with the appropriate parties and helps ensure that your gift can be identified promptly when it arrives.

Confirmation of your gift

After your donation has been initiated, please notify our Financial Advisor team and/or the North Carolina Justice Center. We will coordinate as appropriate so that receipt of the gift can be confirmed back to you once it has been received and approved by the North Carolina Justice Center. This additional step is important, particularly for gifts of stock or other assets that may arrive without information clearly identifying the donor.
