Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
A gift from your retirement account can be a meaningful and tax-efficient way to support the North Carolina Justice Center’s work for a more just and equitable North Carolina.
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA. A QCD is generally excluded from your taxable income and may satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution if you are required to take one. Because individual circumstances vary, please consult your financial or tax advisor to determine whether a QCD is right for you. These gifts can also count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD), if you are 73 or older. To learn more, please reference the IRS website for additional useful information on RMDs.
To make a gift this way, please note that the funds must be transferred directly from your retirement account.
If you have questions , please contact Kim-Marie McLellan, Director of Gifts, kim_marie@ncjustice.org.
