RALEIGH (June 14, 2016) – Today, Senate Finance has moved forward to the floor a measure that will threaten North Carolina’s future by locking in a low and arbitrary income tax rate.
Changing the state’s Constitution is unnecessary, and it undermines the ability of future policymakers and North Carolinians to decide what our state needs to make sure all communities thrive. It will lock in income tax cuts that have primarily benefited the wealthy and powerful while likely forcing increases in sales and property taxes and the cost of borrowing for all North Carolinians.
