Public transportation investments connect people and opportunities across regions and surrounding states. These investments are an essential element of the playbook that keeps Wake County on a path to long-term prosperity. Voters in Wake County will decide November 8 whether to enhance their commitment to public transit by increasing the local sales tax by one-half cent. The new revenue would expand bus services, implement bus rapid transit, and use existing railroad tracks to offer commuter rail services.
The NC Justice Center recognizes that local investment in a strong multimodal transit system is an investment in North Carolina’s future. That is why we are endorsing the Wake County Transit plan.
