Garb your lunch and join us for a workshop and discussion in downtown Raleigh Friday, April 30 at 12 noon.
“Uncovering the Truth: Institutionalized Racism in Public Policy” is an opportunity for participants to learn more about two key policies making national news-- the racial profiling inherent in ICE collaboration with local police, a dangerous and disastrous practice that is at the heart of the new Arizona anti-immigrant law currently receiving wide national media attention. We will also examine the right-wing attack to dismantle Wake County Public Schools’ successful student assignment policy for socioeconomic diversity, a devastating move which will lead to resegregation of schools.
In addition to learning more about these issues in North Carolina and nationwide, we will also take action at 2:30pm by contacting key decision-makers in Raleigh and Washington, DC, in favor of more just and reasonable policies.
Sponsored by the North Carolina Justice Center and Southern Coalition for Social Justice, in conjunction with YWCA's Stand Against Racism.
Details: 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m. at NC Justice Center, 224 S. Dawson St, Raleigh, NC 27601
