Adriel Orozco

Adriel Orozco is a Staff Attorney in the Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project at the Justice Center. Adriel is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was previously an attorney and director at the New Mexico Immigrant Law Center and has more than 10 years of experience working in immigration law and advocacy. He received an Equal Justice Works fellowship from 2016-2018 and was named Emerging Leader in Ethical Excellence in 2019 by New Mexico Ethics in Business.

He has experience in communications, policy analysis, legislative advocacy, and movement lawyering. He has worked on policies that aimed to limit courthouse arrests of undocumented immigrants by federal authorities, increase access to driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants, remove barriers to obtaining professional and occupational licenses for undocumented immigrants, and shutting down immigrant prisons in New Mexico. He is queer and grew up in an immigrant family and is driven by his interest in the intersection of law and organizing and in finding ways to build sustainable economies that produce just and fair workplaces for everyone, including immigrants.
