RALEIGH (January 13, 2017) — Today, Congress voted to dismantle the health care law and cause chaos in the system without even developing a plan to replace the Affordable Care Act.

If Congress sticks to this plan, by 2019, this would take health insurance away from over 1 million North Carolinians, kill 76,000 North Carolina jobs, and devastate struggling hospitals by requiring an additional $88 billion in uncompensated care for the uninsured.

This is only the beginning of this fight. We will continue to encourage lawmakers to put the well-being of North Carolinians and all Americans first. We will elevate the voices of North Carolinians whose health care and jobs are at stake, and continue warning about the devastating impact that a full repeal — without evidence of a comprehensive replacement plan in hand — would have on the future of our nation.
