NC HEALTH REPORT: Tell Congress - Don't take away my health care protections!

Today and tomorrow, Wednesday, January 19, advocates from all over the country are calling into Congress to tell them to vote NO on repealing health care reform.

We can call and tell Congress we don’t want our health care protections taken away (especially when members of Congress will get to keep their OWN health care protections).

Call 1-888-876-6242 and tell Congress to vote NO on HR 2.

The Affordable Care Act provides Americans with more freedom and control in their health care choices. Here are some of the health reform law benefits already in effect that some in Congress want to take away from you and me:

  • Insurers prohibited from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions
  • Insurers prohibited from charging more or dropping coverage for people who are sick
  • Regulations that make sure insurance companies use premium dollars for health care services – not administrative costs
  • 50% of brand name prescription drug costs paid and free preventive care for seniors on Medicare
  • Tax credits that help individuals and small businesses by making insurance more affordable
  • New funding for community health centers and training that will improve our health care system
  • New funding and options for states to improve care for older adults and people with disabilities

Call 1-888-876-6242 and tell Congress to vote NO on HR 2.

AT THE PROGRESSIVE PULSE:

  • AP: GOPer talking point on health care job losses “sketchy”
  • Fiddling while North Carolina burns
  • New health reform law Jan. 1 benefits
  • Health benefits enjoyed by Congress are too good for you
